The Environment/Water Unit is under the Department of Project.
The Unit is headed by an Assistant Director, Scientific.
The staff of the unit include scientific officers, sanitation supervisors and sanitation officers (taskforce members).
The activities of the unit are;
1. Daily sweeping and litter picking of surface tarred roads and setbacks.
2. Vegetation control of Agency gardens and some major roads in the capital territory.
3. Routine monitoring and supervision of premises sanitation across the Capital Territory.
4. Regulation of street trading and other related activities in the open space across the Capital Territory.
5. Demolition and Removal of illegal/makeshift structures.
6. Complaint investigation
7. Sensitisation of residents on Sanitation Best Practices.
8. Prosecution of sanitation offenders.
9. Monitoring and supervision of the monthly Environmental Sanitation Day Exercise
10. Collaboration with other Environmental MDAs and local authority in environmental matters
