Patrick Ogoegbunam Ukah

Patrick Ogoegbunam Ukah, the current Director General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, was born on April 10, 1964, in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. He has an impressive career spanning various sectors. He is a communication and public relations expert, an astute professional marketer, a renowned Nigerian athlete, a sports administrator, and a politician.

Ukah graduated from the University of Ife with a Bachelor’s degree in Physical & Health Education and holds an MBA from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ife, and an Executive Programme OMP4 from the Lagos Business School. He is a Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria and the National Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria, among other prestigious associations. His professional journey includes serving as the managing director of Ventolite Group of Companies and Pearl Studios and Entertainment Limited and the Executive Producer of the “Sports Market” TV programme. He has held significant roles in sports administration, including Chairman of the Delta State Hockey Association, President of the Nigeria Hockey Federation, and Board Member of the Nigeria Olympic Committee. 

Ukah’s political career is equally distinguished. In 2011, he ran for the Delta State House of Assembly, and by 2015, he was confirmed as a Commissioner by the Delta State House of Assembly, serving in various capacities, including the Ministry of Information (2016 – 2019) and the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, (2019 – 2020). He was appointed Secretary to the Delta State Government from 2021 – 2023 under the administration of Sen Dr Ifeanyi Okowa. He is currently the Director General of Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency under Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.

His contributions to his hometown’s development and cultural transformation earned him the chieftaincy title AKATAKPO ENYI 1 of Okpanam Kingdom. Chief Ukah is married to Barr. Mrs. Uche Perpetua Ukah and they are blessed with children. His hobbies include sports and politics, and he remains a dedicated advocate for equity and justice.
